April 12, 2011 — San Jose Commends Lavante for Innovation and Job Creation
Mayor Reed and Councilmember Kalra also commended Lavante for its efforts to grow and sustain the local economy
SAN JOSE, CA — April 12, 2011 — Mayor Chuck Reed and Councilmember Ash Kalra recognized Lavante, a leading provider of on-demand recovery auditing and supplier information management solutions located at 6800 Santa Teresa Blvd., in a commendation presentation at today’s San Jose City Council meeting.
During the presentation, Lavante was cited for its recent innovative groundbreaking patent award for statement audit processes, technology and software application that fundamentally changes the recovery auditing industry.
San Jose has continually led the nation in patent generation, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is home to more patent holders than San Diego and Los Angeles combined.
Mayor Reed and Councilmember Kalra also commended Lavante for its efforts to grow and sustain the local economy. Founded in 2001, the company has continued to expand its presence and operations in San Jose over the past decade. It has grown from four employee ten years ago to more than 75 employees today, with plans to be over 125 in 2012.
“I’d like to thank Lavante for their commitment to growing in San Jose and for helping our city remain the world center of innovation,” said Mayor Reed. “We are especially proud that Lavante has continued to create new jobs during these challenging economic times.”
The commendation, presented to two Lavante executives, Joe Flynn, founder and CEO and Tom Flynn, vice president of business development specifically recognized the company’s San Jose roots.
As Joe Flynn was starting up Lavante, he utilized City-funded business service programs including Silicon Valley SCORE, a counseling service to help business grow and succeed, and the eCenter, a resource for entrepreneurs offering free and low-cost consulting services, financing programs, business training, international trade assistance, and immigrant business assistance.
“We thank San Jose for this recognition and its ongoing support,” said Flynn. “We want to share this honor with our San Jose team who have a deep commitment to service and keep our customers coming back,” said Flynn.
The Lavante 28,000 sq. ft facility services key FORTUNE 1000 companies in the retail, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality and technology sectors.
“Companies that can help their clients’ advance their bottom lines by impacting efficiency and cash flow have tremendous value. Lavante has demonstrated this repeatedly by helping their customers maintain and improve their financial health,” said Kalra.
The commendation presented by the Mayor and City Council is a part of San Jose’s Business Appreciation Initiative, a key component of the City’s Economic Strategy. This business retention effort recognizes San Jose companies that further support the City’s efforts to maintain a strong, vital city for the 21st century.
